Hello all. I am taking my daughter into the BWCA via entry point 16 this May 17th. I know that ice out will be late this year and am a novice to Lake Trout fishing. We only have a couple of weeks window before she begins Nursing school hence the early trip. Looking ahead we may want to peruse the elusive Lake Trout since we are looking at a late spring in regards to fishing opportunities. We will probably be early for SMB. I believe that we have LacLaCroix as a Trout option but does anyone out there have any additional options that you are willing to share. We will not be keeping any fish. I assume trolling spoons and crankbaits in the 12'-30' depths are the preffer d meathods early? Thanks all!
I know Oyster has some lake trout. We caught a couple in mid-June on silver and blue Kastmasters. We only fished Oyster for a couple hours. It was a day trip from Hustler.
