Curious if anyone here uses a cold handle frying pan/skillet. I had never heard of these things before until I came across a post on another forum. Looked so cool I had to get one!

I don't, but I think I know where you heard the talk about them....they love them over there! I have a nice set of 100 year old Griswold cast iron, but wouldn't be against picking up a cold handle if I ran across one....Have you tried it out yet?

Lots of times and different camps. Used to be very common.
Spun carbon steel, hold heat like cast iron, almost, the handle will heat up just not as much as a solid steel handle. Can rust so season it like cast iron, to develop the same style non-stick surface. The style is not hard to find used and new, if you describe it correctly.

Mike, it has not yet arrived. Found it on Etsy for $22. It is a 6" diameter pan, and I will let you know what I think of it when it arrives. Always looking for new stuff!!

I have this one.too small for the sort of cooking I do on canoe trips.
because it seems like a old time sort of thing I mostly use it for frying
over a old classic stove.the handle does stay in the warm range but not
so hot you need a hot pad or glove.

Just received mine, and it is tiny! 11.5 inches from handle tip to opposite edge. The frying pan is 4.5 inches at the base and 6 inches across the rim. Weighs in at a whopping 185 grams. I really like how light this thing is, but too small to really do anything with. I will keep looking for a bigger one.

We really like them and have carried a ten-inch one on at least 20 Quetico trips and on many trips on rivers here in the South. We have several and some are smaller.

I found a 10" one on Etsy and ordered it. The 6" is tiny! My wife saw it and immediately hung it on the wall. She likes antiques, and it does look good on the wall. The thing was made in 1922, and I cannot help but wonder what its purpose was. Cooking one egg or one burger? Anyway, looking forward to playing around with a bigger one.

The 10" pan arrived. Would be perfect for tandem or larger groups, but too big for a solo. These things sure are light! Will keep looking for one that may work for a solo.
