I heard my first White Throated Sparrow this morning here in NW Indiana. Singing away. They don't stay around long here as they travel north. It was a great way to start the day.

Funny picture!
I SMELLED spring this morning for the first time and my (metro area) lake had an ominous black swath across one section - the first sign of any weakness this spring.
So, despite the hail and snow coming down now, I think spring will be here quickly once that storm passes through!

Frenchy19: "Twin Cities is looking at another 10 plus inches of snow this weekend with western MN as much as 18. This s--t needs to end...!"
Ha ha ha! So true :)

Yep spring is here... I just heard my last sore throated neighbor kids when I called him to check my sap bags.
My trip got set back 1/2 a day... So maybe when I get home Monday I'll see spring. Fire up those lawnmowers boys and girls....

This is my backyard in central Wisconsin this morning. Ain't nothin' singing here, but if you're real quiet and listen- over the sound of distant snowblowers struggling- you can hear a couple of my neighbors crying...

This isn't any fun anymore....
Had to drive 9 miles to town to check animals at office.
With the wind the visibility is really bad...wearing polarized sunglasses seems to help a little bit.
Ain't no point to move snow unitl the wind ever dies down.

over the weather,i mean how long can this last..ha-ha.
after digging out my car again for a wild ride in first gear to get it to the garage parking spot for the plows tonight I gave up on spring.
if nothing else i'm down in the Kanoe Korner sorting camping gear......again.

Cancelled my campsite reservation today for Whitewater State park for my annual solo trout fishing and spring camping opener. Love that trip and weather has been gorgeous the last several years, and the fishing has been good. But I didn't bargain for mid April winter camping - I am sure there is ample snow on the ground down there and the forecast sucks. This is a big disappointment. Hoping to reschedule in a few weeks, we'll see. Of course they are forecasting up to 4 inches of snow here in the TC for Wednesday this week...AAARRGGHH

shock: "so is this from global warming or climate change ? i forget ? LOL"
While you wait for a response on your question, check out this weird jet stream pattern! I'm not a meteorologist, but I can't remember ever seeing one do this. I always thought it habitually flowed west to east along latitudinal lines.

HighnDry: "not sure of your point ? this system is man made ? and yes seen this pattern before more than once,, storms have kept a circular pattern that has kind of a stalling pattern.shock: "so is this from global warming or climate change ? i forget ? LOL"

Lots of snow then. More since. :(
Without the bad times, the good times wouldn't seem so good.

I was in Denver today, spring is alive and well there. It was sunny very little wind and something like 75°.
I'm back to reality tonight however, home in NW Indiana cold and cloudy. I need a beer...

They were up for Easter and might be for Mothers Day too."

I've been in Denver a few times this year. They have a lot of nice weather.... And people! Nice people except when they are behind the wheel. No wonder they are making cars that drive themselves... This last trip had me chaining up just east of Breckenridge. Drove through a doosie of a storm. Denver was nice, but the winds were high and I had to keep moving. But each time I've been there I've had very nice weather. Even just before Christmas. This time I dodged the storms but still had to plow when I got home.
Lot's of snow to melt, but it's finally going fast! The lake here is very slushy. Miserable to go on. I need flip flops... I mean snowshoes with floats. But sap has finally been running.
