If you were to purchase a food pack, which one would you buy and why. From either CCS or from Stu from B.W. Journal. I'm interested in one, but I don't know which. Thanks for your input.

I do not have a designated food pack. I use whatever pack works best for the number of people going on the trip.

Are you talking about the Insulated food packs? Another vendor is Kondos, who make Stu's ones.

Haven’t used the BWJ one, but the CCS one is awesome. Really well thought out straps and handles and easy to hang or portage.

I like using the "blue barrels" with foam padding around them as insulated food packs. Big groups - i just use a couple more barrels.

What pack is that to hold those barrels?

What kind of food? If you are looking for " Stu" type of food (ie a lot of fresh, refrigerated food), then go with Stu's system. Otherwise, go with either a pack, if you are going to hang, or a barrel, if you are not.

One of my co workers has the Kondos insulated food pack (Kondos makes Stu's packs) He thinks it works great. He uses it for frozen foods. Uses a couple of frozen water in a couple of gallon milk jugs.

We love our CCS Deluxe food pack. Have carried and used the style with the insulated plastic box and much prefer the CCS. Get the stuff sacks CCS makes you to with it. Tough and comfortable pack. Easy to hang. Light weight.

No regrets on this one and may be the best single gear purchase I've made.

Keep in mind a food pack can be any appropriate sized back pack without a frame. I use an Osprey Talon 22 on my solo trips

My buddy has the BWJ/Kondos insulated food pack and I have the CCS Deluxe and CCS solo insulated food packs. They are very similar and you can't go wrong with either.

I have a Granite Gear food pack that works very well with kitty litter buckets and/or 6 gallon square olive barrels. I also have a 10 gallon blue barrel with a barrel harness. Food carrying evolution was 5 gallon bucket w/gamma seal, then a pair of the olive barrels and kitty litter buckets, and now it's a hybrid of the blue barrel, kitty buckets for dry goods, and olive barrels depending on the trip.

We use the CCS insulated pack. Works great.

Dan invited me to his house once (this is common--I'm not saying I'm special) so when we were thinking about it I suggested to my brother in law that he ask Dan if he could drop in. Dan said yes.

My brother in law called me on the way home saying, "Thanks a lot! I just spent $--- dollars on gear!"

We love that pack and use it every time....and also the other packs Mike bought that day.

I use a BWJ poly box inside a Kondos equipment pack. I like the protection and organization. I've tripped with the insulated food packs and I personally find them a little clumsy.
