this could go in the fishing forum or trip planning forum but it's more trip history.
as the years have gone by my memory was getting fuzzy on exact years with the exact people on our bwca trips , the personal in my groups have changed through the years for 1 reason or another ;)
but i started this laminated list a few years ago and added more as the years went by. and it's time for a new sheet ;) ((2 are none BW))
hope this isn't TMI but my son was conceived on the 1992 seagull trip born late february 1993. go figure ! we were going to go with segal for his middle name but we went with Wayne (2 relatives middle name)

I keep a tripping journal as insurance against a failing memory. Started it in 1978 when I was 16, and it records people and wilderness trip details all over the continent...

My trip journals date back to the mid-1970's and include all participants names as well as trip photos. A great resource to refer to.

I just use BWCA trip reports for a record of my trips! hopefully many more to come. I still have not posted the first two times in the BWCA, but hopefully time permitting, I can get those done.

Cool, but my only question is what happened from 2006 to 2010? Big gap?

:)

yup gotta journal all your trips. Add some photos and it is a priceless keep sake.........otherwise all I would remember is "Oh yea, I went there".

Records of events, people met along the way, interesting circumstances, weather, notable fish etc. etc. can easily be "relived" 20 years from now.

And with a digital foot print it is so very easy to do. I use blogspot as a scrap book of sorts. Easy to share with friends and family that way as well.

Its easy, if I can do it anybody can, check it out.

I went to an Excel file years ago - ran out of paper. My first trip was back in the 1960's. I confess I did take a few years off to do nursing school and and start a family.

I use a journal book as well.... On my 2nd now. I usually write it in whenever I'm in a tent, so there's more than just canoe trips. Lots of adventures with the Scouts too.

Great idea to keep the journal cause I sure don't remember going with you on the 2003 trip. ;-)

I got one of those micro cassette recorders and each night at the fire I recap the day. I only do this once a year on my first trip. Any of the other trips each year don't get remembered :)
The best thing is that you can hear the loons in the background or the fire crackling or rain hitting the tarp, or the wind blowing, or the thunder, or your trip mate chiming in with any details I might have missed.

Yep - I sure wish I had one of those. For a while I made photo books for the kids, but definitely not of every trip. Will have to rely on photos if I can ever get them organized.

Linda has kept a journal of every trip since 1978. We may type them and place them in some sort of book and hopefully family members will read them in the future. It is doubtful if we will do this and they probably will be eventually thrown out when we die. Eleven years ago we purchased a primitive cabin on a lake near French Lake. We spend our summers there. We still keep a daily journal of our time at the cabin and on our Quetico trips. We are giving up driving up from Georgia this year. By flying up and renting a vehicle, we must give up taking our camping gear and probably stop taking our trips into the Quetico. Sadly there is a time for changes.
