Has anyone tried adding a screen to an existing tarp? This would save cost over something like a bug tarp and can take it or leave it depending on the season. Bass Pro has them on sale, weight: 3#

We sewed our own screen to a tarp for base camp trips.

I cant find a good picture right now. Not sure why it is upside.

Many folks add screen to their tarps they call it a "tent".....

ZSKI,

I bought a Bass Pro 10 x 10 No see um umbrella canopy for $59.95 and put it under a 10 x 14 CCS Tarp. The Bass Pro screen is hung from the tarp tie outs. I usually use poles on each corner when base camping with a larger group.

I find pulling up the center of the tarp up to a tree branch really makes the drape of the trap hang more evenly.

The front door zips closed. The pic has it unzipped. "Economical and fairly light" setup.

Another plus is the no see um netting did a nice job of keeping rain from entering inside the screened in area. It was nice to sit inside with our Helionix chairs and enjoy a cocktail while it rained and keeping us bite free from mosquitos.

I think Grandma L may have bought a Bass Pro canopy and made a screen tent.

This Screen Tent Link has a better pic of my BassPro Canopy and CCS Tarp setup.

I just ordered some noseeum mesh to sew my own bug shelter that will hand under my tarp. I spent more than the Bass Pro one and that was just for materials! If you can make it work, try it!

I used to hang a BPS screen room under a 10x10 Kelty tarp. Worked great. Last year I bought a Nemo Bug Out Shelter on super sale.

The BP screen in the link has no top so you have to firmly attach it to the tarp. The old ones Wally13 is showing had a top - I call them to get the full info. They have changed them. I broke down and bought a Bug Out on sale last fall. After figuring time and materials - might as well buy it.
