I am curious to anyone owning a real "DownVu" fish finder sonar. I have a 150 and 151 and their is a noticeable puck difference. I know the difference in 2d sonar and the upgraded DownVu. What I am looking for is if someone has used the DownVu in the woods and how they actually mounted it for shooting through a canoe. The large teardrop transducer head appears to have the 3 sonars come from the bottom and sides, unlike the traditional transducers that only shoot out the bottom. I am going to use a clear bag with water and stabilize in a foam cradle. My question is can this work or does it need to be in the water so it can truly see at such a big angle of 120 degrees.

I have mine shooting through the hull but I have been disappointed in not seeing as much structure as I thought I should. Side note I have seen big sharp arches on my downscan when 2 beavers swam under my boat left to right. Makes me wonder if the transducer were mounted 90° from where the instructions say it should be mounted could I see arches for fish that are directly under the boat.

I have my transducer shooting through the hull of my Quetico 17 . I just bury it in a big glob of duct seal. I do t use the Down Vu much. Even when fishing in my Kayak and it’s directly in the water I find that the down vu gives me more definition on what’s siting on the bottom ( Logs, Weeds, Rocks) but it doesn’t seem to mark fish as well as running in traditional 200 hz.
