I really enjoy using plastics in the BWCA. They allow me to fish aggressive or slow it down and finesse the fish into the canoe. However, I still have yet to find a great way to pack them in. I've tried taking them out their original packaging and putting them in sandwich bags, but felt like that just lead to sandwich bags all over the canoe.

Any tips for packing in plastics? Any way to efficiently consolidate and organize them while fishing in the BWCA?

I try to limit my plastics to a few colors and sizes. That way I just leave them in the original package. I also have tried the lunch and snack bags but they tear and then they are a hassle.

I combine my plastics in sandwich bags according to type, jerks, curlys, etc. They go into a plastic pencil box, which goes in my tackle bag. A few of each type in a color assortment is more than I need. I probably have a half dozen bags, which are labeled.

We take a lot of plastics and I leave all but the swim baits in the original pkg. the swim baits I take any hard plastic packaging out and consolidate in the original packages. Once I have consolidated by type, size and color put back in fewer original packages. At this point I put them in small/cheap dry bags per species ( i.e. Walleye, SMB, LT, NP) this keeps us organized on the water so we’re not wasting time and frustration digging through everything to find the ones we’re looking for. This system works well for us and packs very well and dry.

I keep the soft plastics in their original bags. My favorite go to baits are doubled up in one bag. The plastics bags are kept loose in a Bass Pro Shops Worm Binder bag with the metal rings removed. I put hooks, brass slip sinkers and glass beads in one of the unused BPS worm binder bags. I also place jig heads in one bag, spinnerbaits in one bag and chatterbaits in another bag. The Bass Pro Shops Worm Binder does a good job of holding everything but the hard plastic lures with treble hooks.

When fishing from a canoe, I use a Granite Gear thwart bag in lieu of the Bass Pro Shops Worm Binder.

I put mine in sandwich bags, then in a nylon stuff sack. When fishing, I take them out of the nylon sack and put them in the tackle box, leaving one (or two) of the plastic trays on the floor of the canoe to make room. Works OK for me.
