Had a really fun day yesterday on our first paddle of the season... did 14 miles of the Rum River with Northstar Canoes. Saw some friends... met some new ones. Had a great time at the open house afterwards seeing their facility and listening to One Match play. Tested out my shoulder (separated in February cross country skiing) and it held up better than I thought it would.

It was a great day all around. And then... right before heading for home... my husband let me buy a new canoe !!!! I was so surprised that I had a hard time deciding what to order at first. (Northwind 17 StarLite)

I woke up this morning with a big smile on my face... and counting the weeks until it's built so we can bring it home and take it on our first trip of the season in July.

I really felt like we should stay and continue the celebration with you, but kids needed to head back. The joy on your face was fun to see and I can only imagine the repeat when you pick that new baby up!

Congratulations - this year's trip will be extra special!

Congratulations! Your husband takes good care of you... As he should. You grin big enough out there with any old canoe, now your going to hurt from grinning so much.

We left shortly after you did too. We were wiped from the river paddle and sun. Definitely a great day!

Best surprise Mother's Day/Anniversary/birthday gift I've ever gotten.

I've spent a good chunk of today grinning from ear to ear and researching our two summer trips. I just keep thinking... we're going to have a new canoe with us!

Mid July can't get here soon enough.

Our late August trip is Moose River North to Agnes & LLC. Then we're renting a house in Ely for labor day weekend to relax before heading back home. Maybe we can meet up - it's been too long since we've seen you.

Seems to be going well so far... we'll celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary the day we take a tow to American Point on our July trip.

If somehow it doesn't work out, I think there'd be a fight over the fleet ;-)
