A friend and I always go over the rule books from the MN DNR. So far the fishing
only has 34 mistakes in 80 pages.

So this is telling me local fire departments have to have there tanks drained?
There are plenty more mistakes. You should read the ones on minnow/leech transport.
None of which are printed, new laws, which people don't know, oh for fun.

MN law requires drain plugs to be removed while transporting watercraft. Your supposed mistake is just giving an exception to that law. For example, the DNR can transport their boats with the drain plugs in, as long as they drain the boat first.

yup, you need to hire a lawyer these days just to understand the "legalese" of the ENDLESS amount of rules and regulations being pumped out. Remember when fishing regs was a tri fold paper? Open it up and quickly scan dates and lengths? Now its a fine print booklet (which you cant even understand 1/2 the time) written by people who have probably never hunted, fished or camped and live in some urban metropolis and are getting paid 6 figures.

Now, imagine trying to open a business or conduct business. Very expensive just to be able to ascertain what is legal these days. And naturally it is very easy to run afoul of some arbitrary law or regulation which of course invites close scrutiny and fines. We are getting so bound up in red tape we cant operate anymore.

The one rule that gets broken often is where you can’t bring water in your bait container from one lake to another. Then they say you can use bottled water, yah right. I carry my bait in Lake water over a Portage and then dump the water in the woods and refill at the new Lake. I think I’m within the rules.
