Anyone hear any reports on the ice on Snowbank the last day or two? Burntside reports would be helpful as well. Close proxy.

My buddy from Ely texted me and said it was officially ice out yesterday. He was pretty happy. He didn’t mention any specific lakes though.

Burntside and Snowbank still had ice on them as of this morning, but should be ice free by Thursday.

I spoke to someone at the wilderness bay lodge yesterday. She was marooned in town, as there was still too much ice on snowbank to get over to their cabins. Her son hiked around the lake on the kek trail and gave the ice report. Most of the bays are open, and they said it would almost certainly be out by this weekend, especially with all the rain yesterday and in the forecast.

I have zero worry about my Snowbank permit for next week.

A lot more ice went off Burntside last night, and the ice was about 100 feet or more from the Van Vac Landing (pictured above) and is at least that off my dock when it was only 30 feet yesterday afternoon.
Not much wind, but don't think the lake will last much longer.

I called Smitty's today and they reported the bays and landing were iced out. He said you could probably paddle to the portage, but not straight across the lake.
