Turns out this guy is the father of my first known American ancestor on my mother's side of the family. The surname he made up was the last name of my great grandfather, it's actually Denio, not Danio like the article says, but it could have just morphed over time.

Chances are he wasn't the type of guy who would ever turn down a drink!

Interesting that he served with Alphonse Tonty, younger brother of Henri. Look up the history on that guy, he was a badass with an iron hand. Literally.

I thought only the history of the well to do, famous, and notorious was preserved. I did a quick search and found that a friend’s family is also on that website. I’ll have to tell him about it. The life of a Coppersmith in Montreal is less interesting than a Coureur de Bois though.

Just checked out Henri and Alphonse, these guys didn't let a lot of grass grow under their feet.

That's awesome, it's possible to trace your ancestral line and find out that so and so was born on this date, died on this date. The missing info is what kind of life they lived, what kind of a person were they etc., that's a great find.
