So I picked up a new canoe this year and need to get yoke pads for it before my inaugural Memorial day trip, I have a good condition set of foam squares on the Penobscot that I could transfer but I would like to hear from anyone with first hand experience with the Piragi's toilet seat pads. The problem I have is I am built more like an NFL line backer than a cross country skier and the yoke always seems to hit me in the neck regardless of how far forward the square style or hammock style pads are placed. What's the solution for a guy with a 20" neck?

So, you’re gonna stick your head in a head seat to carry a canoe? Please post a picture. I can see lots of things going wrong with that picture.

I think the OP is referring to the "horse collar" style of portage pad at this link.

Worst yoke pad I ever used. Had them on my second Wenonah Adirondack and it was too confining for me. Others may like them, not I. My recommendation is these Bourquins. Love them. Piragis has some similar ones that are pretty good, but Bourquins are my favorite:

I am with Ozarkpaddler ... Bourquin Pads are the way to go. My MN II that I bought from Piragis in 1992 had horse collar pad portage yoke. Switched to a Borquin pad set up and sure glad I did.

Heard more complaints about the "horseshoe collar" than any other type of portage geaar.
Personally use Superior Pads, very similar to Bourquin. Mine are codura covered adding more grip. Big and adjustable!

Ok, I gave up on the toilet seat style, I went down to Midwest Mountaineering and tried the hammock style, the curved foam ones, and the rectangle foam superiors they all hit me in the back of the neck. So, I bought a pair of the Superiors, extended the bolts and raised them up 1 1/2", I think I solved my own problem....

Nice! Hope the canoe transmission comes out as good.

Thought I’d add my 2 cents. And I realize this may be a day late and a dollar short but I actually switched to horseshoe collars because I’m built like you. I found any of the 2 separate pads would either pinch on my trapezius, or would feel like theyd slide off my shoulders since I’d have to widen them to get them off my trapezius.

I like the horseshoe because it puts even pressure across the neck and upper back.
