Just got my Neko stuff........very nice, 1st class finesse tackle, my style for sure.

I really like the weights, your not covering all the depth bases with a drywall screw thats for sure. Very slick stuff I must admit.

The sinkers are brand new however and just based on principle I detest fishing with bright shiny new lead (jig heads are an exception).

We buy 5lb packs of 5, 6, and 8 oz sinkers for offshore salt water work and they were always really bright and shiny, a definite turn off for the wary snapper we pursued.

A nifty trick to darken your sinkers overnight is to soak them in drano. Works like a charm, takes the shine off and gets them a nice flat black color. I will likely be dropping my Neko rig sinkers in some drano. Thought I would pass it along ;-)

How do you rinse them off to make sure the smell is gone?

I have found water out of a hose works just fine ;-)

I just dump the contents through a strainer and then rinse off the sinkers. There is no residue but they will certainly be a much darker, almost blackish type of color without any of that glossy / shiny look. Lead is not porous so there will be no odor issues. I would be curious to see if it works on other types of metal.
