Not there yet. Good thing is a chance of rain mid/late week and a good chance over the wk-end or there would likely be bans put in place imo.

Question: we typically bring in charcoal for the first night's dinner of steak. How does a fire ban effect that if at all?

That would be considered an open fire.

In a fire ban Charcoal would be an open fire. Better plan on Mountain House chili.

Bring an 8" cast iron pan (2.5-3lb) and use that on your stove to do your steak. Worth every pound, and while this may be sacrilegious, I probably prefer doing steak in cast iron because you can get an excellent sear. Its better over wood coals, but a stove can get you there. The cast iron distributes heat better and helps with hot spots you would normally get from a butane stove on an aluminum/titanium mess pan.

No reason to give up on Night 1 steak due to a fire ban :)
