This is Ozarkpaddlers wife and I know he had some deals for paddles, but he has had a heart attack. He is in ICU with a pacemaker. He is in the hospital for now, so he won’t be on here for a while. Please keep him your thoughts & prayers.

Ozartswife,
I am very sorry to hear the news on your husband.
I'm the guy that bought the two paddles from Ozart. Forget about the paddles and spend your time taking care of your husband.
Once he's through this mess and back up and around he can ship me those paddles himself.
I'll keep you both in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Dave Ball

Oh, my! Many, many prayers for Terry. He is one of the best on here--one of the ones I have always said I would most like to meet in person. We have had so many good interactions, and he was so supportive this past March when I had my hip surgery.
Please tell Terry that Lynda sends her very best thoughts, and will be praying every day for a quick and complete recovery. And take good care of yourself, too, Margaret, as I well know how difficult it is to have a husband seriously ill in the hospital.
Thoughts and prayers for you both from the Spartans, 1 & 2.

So sorry to hear of this Margaret. May your and Terry's faith get you both through.
and please remember to be kind to yourself.
All of us who have met both of you at Ozark Rendezvous are blessed to know both of you.
Seems unfair with the loss of Terry's dad last week..

Hey everyone - I don't know most of you but I know everyone that knows Terry would appreciate an update and I know Margaret is exhausted and may not post any time soon. I spoke with Margaret this evening and he is doing pretty good. He had to have one stent (may need two more down the line) and he is on a temporary pacemaker as they are trying to get his heart rate regulated. If they can get the heart rate regulated he could go home tomorrow (which would be awesome), if not he may need a permanent pacemaker. They should know more tomorrow. Terry did eat dinner tonight and Margaret said he is ready to go home, imagine that. Terry and Margaret have been through a lot in the last week as his step-father just passed away, so please keep them both in your prayers. If I hear anything new I will post again as I know Terry is very loved; I consider him and Margaret dear friends and you couldn't find nicer folks.

Thanks so much, Pam. It is good to have some information. This group here is good about praying for and thinking about our friends who are having troubles. And we really do care about Terry, and now about Margaret, too. We are a family here. We sometimes have our squabbles and our disagreements, but we care.
God bless you for taking the time to update us. And God bless Terry and Margaret.

Thank you for the update Pam. I feel so bad for Terry; he has been through so much and I know not being on the water is anguishing for him. I hope everything gets straightened out quickly so he can resume doing what he loves doing.
For you that don't know Margaret she is a sweetheart and a natural caretaker but I hope she gets some relief soon too.

I guess I need to be checking the board more often... just seeing this. I will add my prayers for Terry and family! While I've never met Terry, he seems like a first rate guy! Here's to a full recovery and getting back on the water quickly!!

My wife was having some mystery symptoms a few years ago....no chest pains but was having asthma like symptoms. She ended up with 2 stents and then a pacemaker, defibrillator, that they can monitor a few times a year over the phone line.... She has been doing great ever since. Never had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, chest pains...
Hope Ozark Paddler has as good an outcome...and can expect taking a bunch of drugs daily forever.

Deacon: "Prayers for a speedy recovery from here in Wisconsin. I have always enjoyed Ozark's posts. He has spent his life in helping others heal...may God put a healing hand upon his servant."
Well said Deacon!
Hoping for the best and praying for Terry and the family.
Get well soon Terry!

Very sorry to hear the news. From one who knows cardiology departments very well, I offer my very best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Update - I talked with Terry yesterday and he sounds great and he says he is feeling much better. His spirits are great! He had 3 more stents put in Friday and will have a permanent pacemaker put in tomorrow (Monday). He thinks he could go home Tuesday, which he is ready as you never get "real" rest in a hospital, but he is used to that considering he is a nurse! With his great attitude I'm sure he'll be back in a canoe in no time! I'm sure he'll back back on here soon to thank all of you for your love and prayers!

Had you in mind (feel your ears buzzing guy ??) when we ordered a defib outfit for our church. We now have the senior meal site in our building and it seemed like a real good idea. Now we are lining up training for the thing.

Thanks Bob. And having an AED on the wall is good insurance for the next person. The good news is they're not difficult to use.

I visited Terry at the hospital Sunday afternoon. He was sitting up and feeling better. Hoping to be back on the water by July.
Got an update from his wife this morning (Monday). The pacemaker is in and he is in recovery. Hopes to go home late Tuesday.

Thank you! For visiting and for providing the update. Glad he's on the mend, and hope he's back on the water this summer.

My question would be... Is the pacemaker a permanent fixture? Or at one point it be taken out?
Hoping you have a great recovery Terry!

If it is similar to my wife's it under the skin by the collarbone. The may send him home with a device that is set up through the phone line. It will automatically monitor heart activity. Besides being a monitor/defibrilator (just in case!!!) it helps keep her heart pumping stronger by synchronizing the ejection contraction. She is still on the original batteries but they will have to be replaced at some time. Of course all this comes with a bill....medicare and our supplement..
but it is all better than a funeral..
