Hello, picked up a used Wenonah 18 kevlar Sundowner and am looking to find a used Spring Creek combo third seat portage yoke combo. Anyone have one willing to sell? and or have experience with this item? Am planning a summer BWCA trip and the weight of the third person will be 125 lbs. The other two passengers will be 145 lbs in the front and 180 lbs in the back. I would assume the third seat should be placed in front of the middle thwart so about 34.5 inches width for the third seat.

With an 18 footer I would imagine total payload will be some where around 125+145+180+25+60+50 or 585 lbs total. I would hope the boat will hold that.

Placement will depend on balance for portaging....usually midship...maybe an inch forward so tail is a smidge heavy. That's where your yoke clamp fitting will be for portaging, so inverted, that's where the seat will be. I have two of them on my canoes and while I like them for portaging, I've never been real fond of them as seats for adults. 125 pounds should work ok though.

Thanks cowdoc. I figured that the fabric may be over time get a little saggy? but this would be for my significant other as she is a lightweight. I guess the other issue/concern is the loading of packs. I have a older Duluth 3 strap canvas that is still holding up and will likely take a internal frame backpack. Up until now I have only used the boat as a two seater, so I have plenty of room for the packs. What is the clearance (canoe floor to bottom of the Spring Creek seat) and can you fit anything under it?

Depends on canoe. Seat bottom to canoe bottom in my Mn2 is 9 inches. In my SR Wilderness 18, it's about 10.5 inches. Wenonah lists side height for Mn2 at 13.5 and Sundowner at 14......so 9.5 clearance for you under seat. I've had mine for close to 20 years and the fabric/ foam is not saggy and is in excellent shape.
