I am setting up a shortened trip, and trying to figure out if we have the time to get into Iron and make the most of it.
Part of me thinks we would be better off just Camping in LLC, and taking a FULL day trip to Iron. Then enjoy fishing the SE corner of LLC the other few days.
Tuesday: Late day entry (noon-2pm) EP 16 (Moose/Portage River NORTH) Tuesday: Camp on Agnes Wednesday: move in early am, to SE LLC, or IRON Thursday: FISH FRIDAY: FISH Saturday FISH (unless we were on IRON, then we would need to move back to AGNES or LLC to shorten the trip out SUNDAY: trip out. and 6 hr drive home.
Primary question: Will we find great fishing the SE corner of LLC, or area we better off making our way to Iron?
We have based on Iron a few times and double portage. I have found that (even without factoring in the extra time/agenda etc.) that Boulder and SE LLC has just as good fishing. Boulder River,Boulder Bay, up Bottle outlet/river as an easy daytrip should keep you busy just as well. Fish Stake area too. Curtain Falls is pretty though, especially if you've never seen it before.I would personally go for an EARLY base on Boulder Bay day 2. Early jump from Agnes.
Well, that's a nice opinion to hear. Closer would be much nicer!
We have intentions of taking a break from our 50 miles route and doing something under 30 miles. Boulder Bay/Bottle would be a nice short 25 mile trip.
We primarily fish for Walleye. Smallies/Northern are a blast, but they definitely take a back seat with this group. Any anyone have any specific recommendations for Walleye in these parts?
Fish Stake Narrows seems to be a ways up there, worth it? Is there any current running through these areas?
