Camping last night, I had a tent failure. Any ideas for a new 2 person tent? I had a Eureka 2X for twenty years. Do they still make them?

There are so many good tents that it's hard to narrow down - even after you set some priorities like weight, price, 3-season or 4, number of doors, etc. What are yours?

Depends what you want in a tent, but I'm a fan of the REI Half Dome 2 Plus when I don't need to save weight and bring my expensive ultralight tent.

Do you want a 2 person tent that is reasonable for 1 person or actually 2 people?

I have liked our Eureka Mountain Pass 2man. You can actually sleep 2 and it has 2 nice vestibules. A little heavy for backpacking but good for canoe camping.

REI's newly remodeled Quarter Dome series has a nice 2 person. I especially like the doors and Vest. Not too heavy and not too expensive.

I have a Nemo Galaxy 2P. Two doors, two vestibules, and comes with a footprint. I like it a lot. Also it is longer than most two person tents, which is a plus.

looking for a two person tent for one person.

That leaves a lot of choices that I don't have experience with, but here are reviews of some by knowledgeable people that might help.

I really LOVE the Big Agnes Fly Creek 3. It is only about 3 pounds. It has great space. It is easy to set up. I like to leave the fly pulled back and be able to ser the stars all night.

The fly creek 3 is a castle for one person. I often use it by myself. It has great space.

Check out the Tarptent Bowfin. The 1 person is sized more like a 1 1/2 person tent. Very light and the set up is crazy easy. I've also used a Big Agnus seed house 2.

I got lucky and picked up a MSR Hubba Hubba NX when they were running their 25% off sale. 100 off made it an easy decision. Bought it for the same reason to use as a 1P tent.

I found a steal at the Cabelas bargain cave. MSR Elixir 2 for $100 and I used gift cards to pay for most of it. I use it solo w/ dog along and for trips w/ a duckling. It's a great tent. Easy to set up and very roomy for a 2 and has 2 vestibules.

It's a bit heavy, but I love my Eureka Timberline 4- even if I am by myself. Plus there's plenty of room for two people in that tent. I used to have a Timberline 2- it was a great little tent, but was more of a one man tent (for me). I'm also looking at a Kelty Grand Mesa 2 for backpacking, and I might try it up in the BW, but the Timberline is my 'ford pickup" tent for canoe trips- I can afford to carry a little extra weight and be comfy.

If you're into cheap but durable tents, I think the Alps Mountaineering Zephyr 2 has advantages over the Grand Mesa. It's been getting great reviews for years.

Of course there is the BA Copper Spur 2 man. I've had great luck with it. You can try it if you want... Might cost ya a pizza. :)

Check out what Sierra Trading Post has. You can get some great prices there. I have liked Sierra Designs tents for a long time.

I like my Marmot Tungsten 3 (I don't know how you would possibly get 3 people in it). I call it a 2 plus dog.

It has two vestibules which worked great when we had rain for three days straight to keep some things at least a little bit dry. Inside the tent we were completely dry.

Just returned from a week trip with my daughter May 17-23. I have had a Eureka Timberline 4 since the mid Eighties and decide to chance a two person tent. Pulled the trigger on an Amazon bargain. I purchased an Alps Mountaineering Lynx 2 for about $100. I was a little concerned but it looked nice at home. Set up easy and looked pretty solid. We had nothing but excellent luck with it in a variety of weather. Cold nights, a couple of thunderstorms and a day of strong wind. We were nothing but happy with the tents room, performance and quality. It was definitely not as roomy as our Timberline four but was plenty sufficient with the two doors and two vestibules. I will use it again.

Very typical Alps experience. Makes you wonder why people spend three to four times the price for other brands in a quest to save a pound or two.
