REI's newly remodeled Quarter Dome series has a nice 2 person. I especially like the doors and Vest. Not too heavy and not too expensive.
REI quarter dome 2
Minimum Trail Weight - 3 lbs. 5 oz.
Floor Dimensions 88 x 52/42 (L x W head/foot) inches
Vestibule Area - 21.5 square feet, Peak Height- 42 inches

h20: "... Any ideas for a new 2 person tent? I had a Eureka 2X for twenty years. "
I really LOVE the Big Agnes Fly Creek 3. It is only about 3 pounds. It has great space. It is easy to set up. I like to leave the fly pulled back and be able to ser the stars all night.

I found a steal at the Cabelas bargain cave. MSR Elixir 2 for $100 and I used gift cards to pay for most of it. I use it solo w/ dog along and for trips w/ a duckling. It's a great tent. Easy to set up and very roomy for a 2 and has 2 vestibules.

It's a bit heavy, but I love my Eureka Timberline 4- even if I am by myself. Plus there's plenty of room for two people in that tent. I used to have a Timberline 2- it was a great little tent, but was more of a one man tent (for me). I'm also looking at a Kelty Grand Mesa 2 for backpacking, and I might try it up in the BW, but the Timberline is my 'ford pickup" tent for canoe trips- I can afford to carry a little extra weight and be comfy.

I like my Marmot Tungsten 3 (I don't know how you would possibly get 3 people in it). I call it a 2 plus dog.
It has two vestibules which worked great when we had rain for three days straight to keep some things at least a little bit dry. Inside the tent we were completely dry.

Just returned from a week trip with my daughter May 17-23. I have had a Eureka Timberline 4 since the mid Eighties and decide to chance a two person tent. Pulled the trigger on an Amazon bargain. I purchased an Alps Mountaineering Lynx 2 for about $100. I was a little concerned but it looked nice at home. Set up easy and looked pretty solid. We had nothing but excellent luck with it in a variety of weather. Cold nights, a couple of thunderstorms and a day of strong wind. We were nothing but happy with the tents room, performance and quality. It was definitely not as roomy as our Timberline four but was plenty sufficient with the two doors and two vestibules. I will use it again.
The harder I work, the luckier I get.

Very typical Alps experience. Makes you wonder why people spend three to four times the price for other brands in a quest to save a pound or two.
