Any thoughts on the Wenonah Jensen C-1 Whisper solo canoe. There seem to be very few mentions of it online. Is it the same as the Wenonah Jensen C-1W?
Most importantly, how will it do with a paddler of about 170 lbs? Aka me. Primary use would be fitness paddling around the local harbor on days where the biggest waves will be boat wakes.

I don't remember the Whisper, but the add Whisper shows some photos. It appears to be similar to the Advantage, shallower than the C1W, but seems to have an earlier (1980s?) hull design based on the angular chines. It should be great as a workout boat, and could be used for tripping. HanSolo might have some additional information.

The Wenonah Whisper was essentially a smaller Wenonah Advantage. Back in the 1980's, it was more or less designed to compete with the Sawyer Summersong. The Sawyer DY Special, and eventually the Sawyer Shockwave, compared very closely with the Wenonah Advantage.
The Shockwave, DY special, and the Advantage were for larger paddlers and all three solos were quite fast, but had more wetted surface. Whereas, the Summersong and Whisper were designed for smaller paddlers and had less wetted surface.
The Sawyer Summersong was quite popular in the 1980's, but the Wenonah Whisper never really caught on. Therefore, the Whisper was not cataloged or produced for very long. (Specs and catalog info below)

Whisper was marketed as an Advantage for smaller paddlers or women. Rare boat. I was searching for one for a friend (female) that liked my Advantage but had difficulties with it in strong winds.

Thanks all. I had seen the specs sheet but hadn’t seen the write up before. That and the comments give me a good perspective. I do try to get closer to 150! I might try to pick this one up. I think it will be a better fit for me than the Mad River Traveler I have now. And similar to a Summersong works because I’ve got one of those up in MN.
Only problem is being super busy and it being a couple of hours away. Maybe the owner comes down closer to me at times.
Thanks, again.

Was there a 17' Whisper? That's the length the ad mentions and I've sent a message to the owner to make sure it is correct. But I'm also thinking that if it is a 17' Whisper than it may be for a larger paddler or maybe it just isn't a Whisper.

It’s mine! Hope to paddle it next weekend.
Funny story. He’s owned it twice. The first time he sold it due to needing money for health issues. Then when he got better he decided he wanted a solo canoe again and when he looked on Craigslist, there was a blue whisper like he used to own. Of course, it was his old one. After all, how many blue Whispers could there be in Northern California.
