Fished for 3 days ( 2 half days and 1 full day ) in the BW before heading into Quetico for 12 days. These were the best two I was able to capture. One looked like it swallowed a football....haha

Found a few good ones on our trip last week. Jigs and plastic or buzzbaits were our best options.

Nice fish, Mike and others, too. And your Quetico smallies and walleye impress also! Fished the BW for 3-1/2 days, and this is the best smallie I ended up with this year. Just shy of 20", came from Jack Lake / Baker 39 entry. Got it while fishing our way out from S. Temperance.

Mike do you use a swivel or anything on that bad boy?

I take it you haven't read my article Zulu Magic yet. If you want to read the article send me an email - queticomike@yahoo.com - and request Zulu Magic.

There is a thread called Zulu Rigging that has pictures......I will bump it to the top of the message board so you can see how it is rigged.

To answer your question, I use either a size 3 or 4 BALL BEARING swivel.

The hook I use is a Gamakatsu 1/0 worm hook. Other people like to use bigger EWG hooks, but I feel the lure moves and looks much more natural with the smaller round bend worm hook.

I just remembered that the BW smallmouth were caught on tubes, so if your question was about using swivels on tubes, then the answer is no. I caught most of the Quetico SMB on ZMAN ShadZ ( aka Zulu )

Right - was asking about the tubes. Dipping my toes into tubes this year and giving the Zman setup another chance.

That's cool, I usually just use green pumpkin tubes in the 3.5 and 4.5 inch size. Mostly use 1/8 oz tube jig heads. Sometimes I will use 1/4 oz. if I need to go deeper.
