I just got the Expedition Fry-bake pan and absolutely couldn't stand the fact that it had no handle. So I added my own and thought I'd share for others who might want a handle, too.

I drilled four small holes for u-bolts from the smallest cable clamp I could find. I cut off the excess threaded end with my rotary tool and covered the nuts with JB Weld Extreme Heat paste (good up to like 1300 degrees). Then added the handle from a 12" GSI fry pan I happened to already have... and voila... a removable handle!

I'm sure some will consider this mutilation of a perfectly good pan, but I'm happy! We'll find out how it works next week!

That is one of the best mods I have seen yet. Great idea.

Nice job on the handle attachment. I have been using a GSI pan for a while now and I like it. What it is about the Fry-Bake pan that makes it special? I love buying new and better gear, I just need a reason.

Well I haven't even used it yet so I'm not the best person to answer your question haha, but I'll share what I found out about it ... because of the lid you can use it like a dutch oven and put coals on top of it to cook from above, it cooks evenly, it cleans out easily and it bakes good bread. NOLS uses it exclusively and has a bunch of videos using it. Figured those were good enough reasons to justify buying a new toy ha. The absence of a removable handle just makes no sense to me though. I'll have to let you know how it rates when I get back!
