Home Depot has these and I'm wondering if anyone has successfully used one to convert their bucket into a cooler.

If you are gonna buy one you may want to check out FleetDale, they sell them for about 7$, a little different, they are called pal liners i believe, wonder if that would fit in my 30l barrel, hmm.

Just realized your not from Minnesota so i should have said Fleetfarm, we have shopping malls with names ending with Dale, fleetfarm has everything so i call it fleetdale.

Wow, edit #2, now i see home depot sells them in 3 packs for 17$, so a better deal if you need 3.

These would work great for keeping minnows from freezing when ice fishing. That and my screw on gamma seal lid and I’m good.

I bought one at a Fleet Farm gas station for about 3 bucks a couple years ago. It was sold to keep minnows fresh. It does work pretty well as a cooler. Not as good as a real cooler, but 50 times better than just the plain bucket for keeping stuff cold. But you do loose some space in the bucket.

thanks! i have 2 buckets with gama lids and i'd like to use one for meat, cheese, butter etc and use the other for non-refrigerated items.
so it's either one of these styrofoam liners, or i could cut some insulation board to line the inside of the bucket. if it's thin enough it should bend to the contour of the bucket and then cut a couple circles for the top and bottom.

I use one. It works pretty good. Freeze what you can solid and wrap it with newspaper. Pack it tight. I don't know how long it will keep something frozen. we usually are done with fresh meat by day 3.
the lid is tight getting it through the gamma seal but you can do it.

I had the same thought and took it further since mine didn't sit completely on the bottom. I cut 3 circles of Reflex to fit in the bottom so the styrofoam would have something to sit on. Any what the heck due to construction at school and no summer school offered I had time to do the same to the top. Only two on top otherwise the Gamma lid won't tighten down. I didn't get to try it since we were totally over packed on our first trip. I think I will go freeze dried/dehydrated on my next adventure and the bucket will be put on the shelf of misfit and forgotten projects.
