There is another world out there.
A good read I thought. What I got out of it is it is not all about you or I. What I mean were lucky to slip into the wild world or invited to enjoy so much. The mountains, water flowing, sounds of loon etc..
Yes like water even flows while we sleep,so the whole world does move on without us,so consider yourself lucky to enjoy solitude and wild things. Solitude

A nice read - it's the kind of thing I go on my BW trips to experience.

With a steady hard soaking rain coming there's lots of solitude out here. No mowers today, no beach goers... But next week with a group of people their is a special kind of solitude. Campfire, good food and good conversation... The only break in solitude is when Tony is snoring by the campfire and an undisclosed person is painting his fingernails. Haha. But just hanging out with a group of friends like discribed is the best kind of solitude.

That was a good read, thanks. I miss out west. I haven't seen those mountains in a very long time.

For us Midwestern and Eastern people it is special, as you drive west and can see the mountains in the distance I get real excited.

I've been thinking a lot about taking a road trip to Yellowstone and Glacier Park. I was last there in 1985.

I deal with thousands of people practically every weekend. Yackety schmakety for 8 hours straight with every imaginable kind of person. It can be a bit wearing at times but if your not upbeat, positive and smiling you might as well not even be there. I am in sympatico with "Tour guide Barbi" in Toy Story......"are they gone? Can I stop smiling, my cheeks are killing me".

What a change. In my twenties I ran a trap line for 3 or 4 months every year in lower Michigan and 1 season in upper Michigan and a few years in Washington State. Being in the woods daylight to dark for that long alone was a truly enriching experience.

The love of the wild places settles in very deep when one spends that much time afield. Let us be very careful not to oppose those whose pursuits in wild places are not our own lest we lose valuable allies. The wildlife Photographer may oppose the hunter or trapper but both have a deep abiding love for wild places and it's inhabitants and will fight for its preservation.

So I am looking forward to not having to make anybody happy. Just peace and quiet in the Lords playground. Not long now, only a month away, yippeee!

Oh boy. Has it changed! Not the scenery. Not the animals. Highly suggest you go during shoulder seasons.

Definitely. I hate being a tourist. I'll get in the backcountry ASAP.
