Hey I recognize that yak! Sorry to hear it got dinged on your way out. I'm the guy with (sadly unused) fly rod heading out as you headed in, stopped to chat briefly on the parking lot portage. Nice pics and glad you had a good trip. TK

Well done Eric. That is a very nice area and I am glad to hear the trip went (almost) well. Portage landings can be hazardous and that one is a funnel. My guess is that these were newer trippers who have not yet learned canoeing etiquette. I brought some newbies this year, though not through there, and they made some dumb rookie mistakes too. I am sorry that your yak got damaged.

Correct on the perch rapala! I only brought one, and it was bringing in walleye and pike handily until a pike sliced the leader. My next-best was a broke-back version in gold/black, but if I had it to do again, at least two perch versions would have come to Canada. It was a great lure to troll (not too much resistance) and very effective.
Thistlekicker, for flies all that was needed was a balsa popper for bass and a Dahlberg diver for (mostly) pike. Had nice bass grab the diver twice :)
