Do you guys have any tricks for getting leeches to not wrap up the hook and make knots in your line when bobber fishing? Seems like the bigger the leech the worse it gets.

Most of the time when I hook it in the front at the sucker part it curls up, then after it hits the water it unwinds. It looks more natural hooking them in the front sucker, just like a swimming leech.

I'm not sure if TGO once mentioned it or I picked it up somewhere else. If I'm fishing a leech under a bobber on a plain hook I hook it right through the middle of the body. The though is that it gives it a more horizontal or "natural" look vs hooking on the end which would give it a more vertical presentation. I've never tested one vs the other at the same time but have never noticed this method not working.

I always hook the leech just under the sucker then through the body, and never have had too much of a problem. I do not bobber fish but troll slowly when using the plain hook. You can also cast the hook out without a sinker, or absolutely the smallest BB shot about 4 feet away from the hook and let it sink slowly before using a very slow retrieve .
The leech will on occasion wrap around the hook and line even when using this method.

I hook them in the middle of body as well just by running the hook under the skin, not all the way through the body. I like how they hang horizontally when hooked that way. I always use a #6 aberdeen hook, but don't know if that matters all that much.

Once in awhile one will twist up, but it is pretty rare.
