Has anyone ever tried to turn a one piece fishing rod into a two piece rod? If so, how did you do it (tools, materials etc..), and how did it turn out?
I have an old Ugly Stick I would be willing to conduct this experiment on, but I would like to give myself a chance of succeding before attempting.

Not on purpose. I'd think that for what it would cost and if you figure your time is worth anything you would be way ahead buying an Ugly Stik Elite for 50 bucks. But I did see this on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVi903ROGRs
Good luck let us know how it goes if you decide to do it.

I had a 6’ St. Croix rod that I turned into a 2-piece rod. One section ended up at 5’6” and the other piece was 6”. It didn’t turn out the way I desired.

Yeah, I've turned quite a few one-piecers into two (or more) piecers.
