2 of my friends competed in solo kayaks and finished in around 61 hours. They mostly paddled all night both nights with a couple two hour breaks to get some sleep. The river was 150 percent normal flow so the current was pretty fast.

I could not do this.
I am impressed that they averaged over 10mph for over 33 hours.

Check out the BWCA Challenge - our own BWCA.com - BeaV set the record last September- 91 hours from International Falls to Lake Superior. BeaV's Challenge Trip Report -
They will be doing the Border Challenge again in mid-September. It is fun to watch their progress as they make there way across.

It's a hell of an accomplishment. But no big water and with the current and no portaging. Just saying. Portaging changes things fast..... Just ask those whom have done the BWCA Voyageur and Kruger Challenge in the past without previous portaging experience.

I floated15 miles on the Missouri from Sioux City. The GPS said I topped out at 7.5 mph in a downriver solo and I had no interest at all in going fast. That river is incredibly powerful.
