Finally loaded some pics from June trip. We took Hy. 1 out of Ely for a change of pace and spotted this doe grazing in someones front yard. At first I thought it was a goat LOL. We actually turned around and came back to get photos. She never moved. (Piebald deer)

Gleat! Picture!
Joy is a great teacher, but so is dispair. Wonder is a great teacher, but so is confusion. Hope is a great teacher, but so is disillusionment. And life is a great teacher, but so is death. To deny yourself any of those in any aspect is not experiencing life totally.

Beautiful photo. The only time I ever saw one like that was when we were staying at HoHo's place up near Ely, about ten years ago. Unfortunately, no one but me every saw it, and I didn't have a camera handy. It was difficult to describe to my husband! :-)

I concur.
But neat looking markings anyway"
A question to all the deer observers out there...I have seen several (4 or 5) deer this year that appear emaciated like the one in Cowdoc's picture. I saw them in areas where food supply was abundant and pressure low. Their physique took my by surprise because I was expecting much healthier looking deer. Might this be a parasite issue or a health problem common among deer?
Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot withstand the storm" and the warrior whispers back "I am the storm". Unknown.

We have a lot of deer around the house and they all appear very healthy, but i am in Michigan. I think I would be worried if other deer in the area look as bad as this one.

Picture was taken June 8th. I thought she looked a tad skinny too, but it had been a long winter and I also wondered if she had dropped a fawn recently. Both reasons to look like she did. Forage was just getting good so I wonder what she looks like today.

I had one right under my treestand while bowhunting a couple years ago. It was a young doe which the front half was brown and the back half was white. I let it walk only to find out a neighbor shot it during gun season.
