Does anyone here have experience with one of these boats? Looks like they are a fiberglass exterior over a wood interior? Am I correct with this, if so, ay idea on weight, durability, etc? I have seen one on CL lately and a beautiful boat, but wondering how it would work for tripping in the BWCA.

Thanks to any and all that read and respond!

Yes they are either fiberglass or kevlar over wood. They are made locally here in Rock Island IL. Here is there website which hopefully answer some of your questions. Navarro Canoe

I've seen these boats at Canoecopia. They are beautiful. Weight seems just a few pounds more than, say, a Wenonah with "flex-core" construction.

They have wooden ribs over a gel coated kevlar or fiberglass hull. Essentially they are composite boats.

The wooden ribs can be difficult to fix if they get loose as they are not tacked to anything

Merrimack Canoes used the same build system.

Merrimack is now part of Sanborn and built in MN They used to be built near me in New England merrimack canoe

Nothing over 44 lbs, buddy. I happen to know your son has a ten-year birthday coming up and likely will be tripping with dad soon enough. You don't want to ruin a good sherpa at the start. :-)
