That's pretty small, but you should be ok. I assume you are talking flat water and just puttzing for a few minutes. Makes sure all of you have very good pfds and that they fit well.

As far as price, if it is free of dents, creases, and holes, I would say you were not ripped off at $400. If it were me, I would not be interested if more than $300.

A 15' would be much more desirable than a 14'.
