I have a Crazy Creek BA Tarp that my dad bought years ago. The problem with the Crazy Creek is that it has "built-in" ends (that's the best way I could describe it, look at a picture if you don't know what I mean) and doesn't have the flexibility of other setups. Anyone with one of these figure out a better way to set it up? If I leave the bottom of the built in end untied it flaps constantly. Have you rigged a ridge line setup where one end is touching the ground? However I do it, I can't get the tarp taught (except when I tied of both center end anchor points), because of the "built in" ends. I thought about putting a grommet in both of the ends near the three way seem, so I could ridgeline it, but think the grommet would eventually tear out, or cause a weak point. After learning more about tarps, I like the flexibility the CCS gives you by allowing different setups (lean-to, ridgeline, etc), and would like to get one, but the current tarp was free, which is always a plus. Thanks for any input.
I get what you mean. I used a spare hammock tarp cut to have "doors" as a kitchen tarp 2 years ago. It worked, but was not ideal. A plain square tarp does offer a wider range of set up configurations.
Free gear...sometimes worth more than you paid for it. ;)
