I’m finding a lot of different maps but I’m not sure what ones would be best.
Any suggestions would be great. Planning on going in on the East side entry pint 43.

I think its a personal choice, but I started tripping with Fisher maps so thats my go to. I usually take a Voyageur as a back up and rarely a McKenzie. I find the McKenzie hard to read as the colors don't contrast like the yellow and blue Fishers. I take a back up different brand in case I have issues locating a portage or get confused with a lot of islands.

I like the Voyageur as a back up because, 1. they usually cover a large area so usually don't need as many 2. They contain fishing info for each lake covered on the map. 3. They also have geological and human history info and I like learnin.

We started with McKenzies and like the larger scale. But Fisher and Voyageur are both good too. The Voyageurs do have lots of great info but I find them harder to use in a map case due to how large they are. I prefer more but smaller sheets to cover an area. But we often have all three on a trip if there are enough of us.

We take 2 different maps along. My husband does most of the navigating, but I always follow along so I know where we are, and of course to check up on him! My husband likes the McKenzie - a little closer detail, especially with islands. This last time I had a fisher along, I liked the color contrast, but the scale is smaller, so less detail. We have taken the Voyager maps before. Sometimes it's just a matter of what is available when we shop.

I have about half Fishers and half McKinzies. I like the colors on the Fishers a bit better, but it has historically always boiled down to what's available. I usually pick up what I need at REI or Midwest Mountaineering, and they both carry McKinzie. Bottom line is it doesn't much matter to me. I've never seen Voyager.

I personally prefer the McKenzie maps as they provide more detail, and when folded in quarters they fit perfectly in a medium SealLine HP map case.

I've always preferred the McKenzie and Voyageur maps due to the scale and information they contain. The Voyageur maps can be hard to come by though. As mentioned, McKenzie maps fit nicely into map case.

All have their pro's and con's. Get a couple, you might find a portage or campsite that was slightly off on one is correct on the other. We usually take 2 or 3 of the main ones (Fisher, McKenzie, Voyageur, etc) just for fun. I like the colors of Fisher, detail and depth contours of M and background info of the area of V.

Everyone seems to like the same things in each brand map. Now if they could combine those things into just one map...
