What do you use for dish soap while camping/backpacking? Is "campsoap" really super concentrated and worth the price?

campsuds & yup, worth the price, couple of drops does the job

Yes. On solo trips I get a small bottle of either Campsuds or Sea to Summit (about $4.00) and after 8-9 days have half a bottle left. So about $0.25 a day is definitely worth it. Must be disposed of in soil for it to be broken down, so walk away from the water a proper distance to scatter.

An older thread that I found on the topic. Lots of different answers.

We typically use Dawn dish soap, but never in the lake. It's disposed of back in the woods. However, I'm starting to rethink that product, even at home.

We use Dr. Bonners partially for tradition. Especially as even our small bottle has lasted so long that it is hard to read for enjoyment. And, of course, as with any soap the suds are dumped back in the woods.

The reason I asked is that the 8 oz bottle I bought many, many years ago is all but gone and I need to get some new suds soon. All of the writing on the bottle is worn off so I do not know for sure what brand it is, Camp suds I think.

I use the Dr. Bronners peppermint travel size from Target. I use it for me and the dishes. One bottle lasts weeks.

I use Dr. Bonner's as well. Bought a big bottle years ago, and I'm still not through the first 1oz bottle I filled for tripping.

Campsuds. Much less rinsing than conventional dish soap

Bannock: "Dawn."

Dawn and I put mine in a couple CONTACT LENS CONTAINERS. Will NEVER leak out into your gear and Dawn goes a long way (a few drops are plenty). If you know anyone who wears them they probably have several spare containers as many of the contact solutions have free cases.

Dawn (clear formula)
also will mention "no rinse" shampoo. gets hair clean with minimal suds and/or water. (Amazon/Walgreens)
