Do you store your maps rolled up, flat (maybe an art portfolio case), or folded? I guess I'm wondering about the maps like fishers that you purchase flat or rolled up, and then probably fold for a trip.
I roll some, fold some. Guess it depends on how crushed they are.

Folded up the way they were received, usually, inside an envelope with my other maps for the BWCA and elsewhere.

We mark them up with any significant trip happenings, (if we saw a bear, moose, caught a big fish, etc.), I make and engrave an inexpensive frame, and we hang them in my son's room, (my tripping partner) or the basement for future memories. Also easy to take back out and use again.

Now THAT is a really neat thing to do!

I fold all my maps in quarters and store them flat. I have about a hundred maps folded in a pile like this. I fold them so the map is facing outside. Then I can just fly through the pile until I find the correct map I need. They also fit in my plastic map case this way.
