On my recent trip, my Exped Gemini 2 rainfly, that has two toggles that loop thru two plastic loops on top to keep the fly tight at the top, one of them came off and the other one is loose.
Long story short, I explained it to them, they sent me a postage free label, and it's on the way, no non-sense. I’ll keep you posted.

During my spring trip my Exped ultralight sleeping pad popped a couple seams. Not a huge deal. It didn’t leak. But less comfortable. I called them when I got home and they said it was covered. Send it back and they’d replace it with the newest model. The entire process took a couple weeks. Used the new pad a couple weeks ago and had the best nights sleep I’ve ever had in a tent. Happy customer for life.

No doubt about it, their customer service is excellent and they will replace anything at no cost. The problem is every single exped pad I've had has blown a seam, and they haven't been abused or over inflated. My sea to summit and Nero pads have had no issues.

We had bought two Exped mats about five years ago and this spring the whole end of my wifes pad let go while on a trip. I checked in with them about a repair and they asked us to send it to them. They emailed me it must of been new-old-stock when we bought it as they had not made them in over 8 years. They then offered us a replacement or significant discount on a new, better mat. We thought that was well above-and-beyond what was called for. We had used it five years, out of warranty, plus we bought it for about half of retail. I want to encourage good service, so we went out and bought two more of their mats/pads for canoe camping and will keep her replaced short mat for backpacking.

I had a mat replaced with a blown seam and another just blew a seam. Always stored properly. They state the replacement warranty at 5 years, which is great I guess. However, as a customer I feel like they'd better figure out the seam issue. It's no fun to have your expensive gear fail after a small handful of uses.

agree! that's too much money for a mat that is still failing in the field, irregardless of those mat's that are fine.

I've been lucky and not had any problems with my Exped Synmat 7, but replaced it several years ago and it only occasionally gets lent out now.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - the best warranty is the one you never have to use.

I bought 4 Synmat 9DLX for 2008. In 2009 2 leaked down slowly at the fill valve. They came with a tag on the valve that read "Push valve knob in BEFORE Turning to avoid damaging O-Ring". This (I suspect) is what happened to the 2 loaners in the other tent. They replaced them promptly with 2 - 9DLX new models with the pillow pump. All 4 still going strong (one has a patch on a pinhole) and they see a week per year at least. I weigh 250 and don't overfill it and proper storage. Comfy for a big side sleeper. I don't lend one out often either.

Sent ExPed a Synmat which I had purchased in 2008. I called to let them know I wanted it repaired and would pay w/return shipping, The mat started whistling a bit. I suspected the valve or sponge inflate mechanism.
Got an RA # and sent it off. They couldn't repair it but I received a new Synmat 7 LW in the mail last week. No charge.
Outstanding.
I sent them a box of Ohio made chocolates & Buckeyes chocs, in appreciation. THAT went over quite well, apparently.
(Buckeyes chocs are peanut butter and chocolate made to look like the state nut, the Buckeye. The real nut is actually poisonous.)

I have a buddy that bought a used exped mat and a baffle gave out. I keep telling him to send it in but he is worried about cost. How much should I tell him to expect to spend on the repair? I see from this thread that there is a chance that they will fix it for free or send a replacement, but assuming they don't what is a realistic price estimate to give him?

Given what I've read and experienced first hand, they'll just replace it no questions asked. I don't think there's a way to fix a blown baffle other than just replace the pad. Maybe worst case is they'd offer a loyalty discount or they'd send him back his still bad pad.

Agree with Mirth. Give them a call to get an RA # (return authorization). Your friend will pay shipping to send but he'll have an opportunity to inform them to call/email with an estimate before repairs are actually made--if fixable. I phoned for an RA# but it was email exchanges beyond that initial contact. I suspect it's not profitable for ExPed to support much of a repair department (personnel labor & overhead).

When I sent my Syn 9LXW back to them I also sent a bottle of Fantasy Factory as a thank you. The return shipment included a replacement pad plus some stickers & an Exped pillow!
