Came across this video just rolling through You Tube, some good info, and I think Plittle can add to this post, being in a canoe compared to what they have. They're on a primo lake, but basically musky gear. Enjoy.

TheGreatIndoors: "I notice these guys are using a single "barbless" hook with a small barb. What constitutes barbless? "
I've seen this video in the past so didn't re-watch the whole thing, but in the intro when they're describing the tackle I didn't recall them calling it barbless?
The video says they're using Gamakatsu Big River Bait hooks, which are definitely not barbless hooks. That said, any hook can be made barbless with a pliers in short order.
It's a pretty crazy setup they're running. Just the hook itself is about the price of a large Rapala Tail Dancer. I'm not a musky fisherman, I haven't come around to shelling out that kind of cash for a single bait. Jeepers, I have crank baits in my box that have caught a lot of fish that cost less than just one of those SPRO Coast Lock swivel snaps!
The other thing is to remember that there are dozens of different ways to catch fish and most of them are a lot less expensive than what these videos suggest. Remember that these guys are mostly on the take. SPRO pays Bill Siemantel handsomely to push their split rings and swivels.

^^^ All great points gopher , i liked the idea of the swivel top of the hook , and with that size hook that does make sense and the big coastal lock at the top of the lure. i use to use those when i did big bait bobber fishing , coastal lock at the end of my line with a good size slip bobber make a loop with whatever leader material, put it on a close it. ,,,, add a big bait ;)
always a thrill when you look away and then look back and it's gone !!!
opps a bit O.T. on my own thread ;)
