For those of you that have used CCO’s bunk houses, what can you tell me about them? Their website and the info they sent me is pretty vague. Are they nice? Do they have heat and/or air? Do they have showers? Are showers included with rental? I’m considering using them for our trip next year.

Ive stayed in all CCO lodging. The bunk house at the Moose Lake base is the leanest of their offerings. Plywood bunks with foam pads iirc. Good for a large group of Scouts, which i was with that time. Fine restroms, showers, sauna, lzundry, and a small store.

There "motel rooms" behind their Ely base are basically a complete motel room ala 1955. Pine paneling, basic but fine beds. Bathroom with shower. Equisitely clean. Very convenient to downtown. Big area to sort and pack after trip.

Then they have apartments - half a house - great deal for 4-6 folks.

Not sure i hit the ones you were asking about.

Ive also camped at their Moose Lake base. My favorite before trip accomodation and launch there.

Excellent information. That’s exactly what I was looking for and then some! I was leaning toward staying at their bunkhouses on Moose Lake. We like the convenience of getting up and hitting the water early without having to drive to Moose from Ely. We might then consider staying in Ely the night after. Do you know if the bunkhouses on Moose have heat and air conditioning?

I do not recall heat but for sure no air at the Moose Lake facility. Showers were in a separate building. Very basic, but clean.

I don’t know of any bunkhouses with air conditioning.

I dont think their Moose Lake bunk houses have either heat or air. After that one trip with Scouts - my first - I chose to use a tent (car camping) at CCO for the early start reasons. They have coffee very early so good way with no cook breakfast to start early.

I have evolved into a late in the day entry as often as not, rather than lodging not in the park. Really early start if you're a few miles in.

I have not been there many years and they have been through a couple owners but we stayed at Canadian Border Outfitters on Moose Lake. Have the bunk houses, but also has motel style rooms. They also serve meals there which is a plus in that you don't have to go to town if you don't want... I see they have an add in BWJ.... Might check them out.

I’ve used CBO several times. We were just thinking about changing it up a bit.

I realize bunkhouses are pretty basic. But I swear we stayed at one somewhere and it had air. It was a very hot night, so we were happy for that luxury. My memory is not what it used to be. So I can’t remember where or when.

I appreciate all the info. I think we’ll give CCO a shot this time. The breakfast at CBO is a great perk. But I guess we can manage with brewing our own coffee and having a cold breakfast.

CCO has usually had (free) coffee at their store on Moose. With a cold breakfast, it's pretty quick get away. I think they have a little cooler space as well.
