I'm looking for portage wheels for my Spirit 2 canoe for outside of the BWCA use. Can anyone give a review of a product you've used and recommend and why. The price range for these is pretty broad, I don't mind spending more if it's a better model.

I've got this cart on our ultralight alumacraft canoe and it is quite solid and easy to use. The lake is a short portage down a dirt driveway from our cabin and this does the trick for that.

Depends on the surface.. For non sandy surfaces like your typical portage a Swedish type cart works well.
It has high ground clearance is center loaded ( taking a lot of strain off you as opposed to end loaders where you have to support much of the load) and the tires now never go flat.
Its handy for those mile long portages of which we have traversed a few with it

It is not good on the tundra as it sinks.. There you need big fat tires.

We used ours on the Bowron Lakes Circuit.. There is nary a rock but there is a whole lot of potholes and the fat tire ones made expressly for the liveries there worked better than our cart did but ours was still serviceable
We use it on some Maine portages and to move the fleet from home to the summer rack down on the lake ( about 400 feet and 100 feet vertical) swedish cart

Pics show my Suspenz HD airless cart which I've used for one season...around 15 times. I'm happy with it overall. The wheel bearings are crude but it still rolls easily. I have the 28 pound model with 16 inch wire wheels. The overall design seems pretty good. $150 with free shipping on Amazon. I use it in one spot where I have to walk more than 1/4 mile; you can see the terrain in the pic. I use 1.5 inch NRS straps plus a couple pieces of clear vinyl tubing on the gunnels where the straps touch to add some friction. Let me know if you have any questions.
