I have never been into Quetico and was curious on route options near Atikokan . Right now am looking at entering through Nym lake, going through Batchewaung, Maria, Jesse, Jean down to Sturgeon and then back up through Lonely, Walter, Elizabeth (with day trip into Draper).

Any comments on this route or a different one? Right now am planning for 6-7 day fall trip with solitude and fishing being prime directives.

chott1,
Sounds like a great trip, I always like more days...like 10, good area with great fishing. I sent you an invitation to the Quetico Afficionados Private Group where you may get more info.

Other options include looping north through Sturgeon, with a possible side-trip or daytrip to Russell, to see & fish Chatterton falls. Then, up through scenic Twin Lakes, Dore', Pine portage bay and back to Batch.

Or, loop the other way, heading SW on Sturgeon, to Burntside, Jean, Oriana, Jesse, and back out.
