I am planning a trip starting at Little Indian Sioux north and heading north to Lac La Croix. I would like to go up thru Beatty portage, past Sandbar Island to Snow Bay.

I am wondering if this is a foolish proposition, due to the heavy motor traffic. My question is how bad is it ?
Does the scenery, fishing make it worth the hassle ?
We were thinking of sneaking into Norway Lake - anyone have any experience going to this lake ?

We would return via the North, South, Slim, Loon lakes, etc.

So many Question, so little time.

Thanks

Jet Boats go up the Loon river and Beatty Portage, they fly!

I've never had a problem on LLC but have always been there after Labor Day. The Loon river can be dangerous. As posted above, they fly up and down that river.

I would not want to be in a canoe and meet a jet boat on the Loon River.

If you are coming from the south portion of Loon Lake, all you have to worry about is the boats coming from loon falls portage (west end of loon lake) and going through the northwest portion of loon lake up to beatty portage. We got shuttled in 2 years ago all the way to Beatty portage and then went up and stayed in snow bay for 4 days. If you stay in Snow Bay, there is a wonderful 4-5 star campsite that apparently not many people on this forum talk or know about. It is the island site on the north central part of snow bay. very developed by someone, we stayed there. lots of "secret things" built around the island. go exploring if you stay there.
