Any suggestions for a good place to stay the night before a trip in Atikokan?

The Atikokan Hotel is good. It's older and has some charm. Almost like a bed and breakfast. Not all rooms have bathrooms in the room. The Otter or White Otter or something like that is also a hot spot. That's a more modern and typical small motel.

I can personally recommend the White Otter. It's nothing special, but it's clean and the people are nice. The rooms also have direct access to the parking lot so you can pull up in front of your door if you're doing the final gear packing, etc.

And a little bonus... The Beer Store is right across the street. :-) Not this EXACT Beer Store, but a Beer Store nonetheless.

It's only a spot on the map... until you go there.

I pulled into Atikokan a few years ago, just about dark, it was raining, and I didn't feel like putting up the tent. Every motel had a No Vacancy sign, so I decided to try the Atikokan Hotel. Very quaint old hotel. They had a bar and restaurant, great customer service. It doesn't look like much from the outside but I won't hesitate to stay there again. The owner also said he would notify the OPP, to check on my truck/canoe during the night. When I got up to leave, and get in the truck, an OPP officer came by, just to make sure I was the owner. That's a nice service for a small town.
