I was wondering if there is any interest in putting together a list of recipes. Maybe to have it broken down for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, etc. I know there is a lot of great information in the Camping Recipes. It takes alot of time to research alot of posts for info. Maybe a sticky at the top of this section labeled "Cookbook" that somehow can be a collection of anyone who wants to add to it. Any thoughts or interest???

It's only a spot on the map... until you go there.
I would be glad to share. My problem is I'm just a throw it together kind of cook so many things are never the same. Guess I should start taking notes.
AWESOME idea!! I'd contribute. I know that there are places that will even publish cook books (like for fund raisers) maybe we could put something like that together to raise money for the website. Proceeds going to BWCA.com. There are so many recipes here that have been awsome. I'd bet we could create an entire book.
THE EDGE, there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. - Hunter S. Thompson
Oh, I just realized how it might work well. There would be a sticky post for each category--breakfast, supper, and other (lunch and snacks, considering most of us don't really do a big lunch up there)--and then inside those sticky posts would ONLY be links to the original recipe that was posted. If you wanted to put a recipe in, you'd post it on the main board and then put the link in the sticky post. This way, if you opened the sticky post you'd see a list of recipes with no clutter, but you could click on the link and go to the actual post, where you could see the recipe, ask questions, etc.
What about that?
How do we get Adam to make sticky posts?
Also, it would be important for people who make the links in the sticky posts to make them with a descriptive title (ie, the name of the recipe...and if no official name, they'd have to make up a good one)...otherwise it wouldn't be that much use.
I thought this thread was dead long ago! The easiest way to set it up is similiar to how the trip reports are done. Have it broke down by breakfast, dinner, lunch & snacks and open for members to post in.
After a collection of recipes are posted they could easily be put into printed form to sell as a book or CD as fundraiser.

I'd really like to see this happen. There have been a lot of great recipes shared on this site and it would be fun to see them all accumulated in one place.

I think this is an awesome idea. What a great way to keep these recipes organized and be able to get feed back for any questions concerning any one particular recipe.
adam is a very talented web programmer, i think he could make a section of the site for camping recipes similar to other recipe sites.
A user can contribute a recipe, perhaps photo if they wish. Categorize it into meal type, add any other categorization as appropriate such as ease of use, dehydrated ingredients, requires refrigeration (first day meal), etc.
Then other users are free to comment on and rate the recipe after trying it.
You can look up the recipes based on rating, meal, ingredients, whatever.
would be fairly similar to what he did for the gear guide with a few modifications. I'm very impressed with Adam's talents, so I think he could pull it off well. If it's done well, it could definitely be a major stopping point and resource for anyone on the web who goes to BWCA, or even camps in general. I can't think of anyone who doesn't want to find better or different recipes for their next trip.
quote drnatus: "I'd love to see it, but would hope that it would be limited to recipes only and not comments. Scrolling through a long list would defeat the purpose."
