Has anyone been up through the S chain this year? I'm wondering how the portages are. Overgrown at all?

I'm specifically wondering about route from North Bay -> South -> West -> Unnamed -> Shade. It seems as if this is the shortest way into the "S" Chain, but we went through here in the reverse order a few years ago and it seemed like we were constantly getting out of the canoe between South Lake and North Bay because the water was so low. I also remember that one lake we ended up on (I think the unnamed one) didn't even seem to exist when we finished the portage from Shade. It seemed to be just a big marsh.

Anyway, I'm curious what the conditions are now, or recently, if anyone's been up that way. I've not been any further than Shade in the "S" chain, we're hoping to go North though them and loop back to Prairie via Agnes.

Thank you.
~TJ
