Before winter permits were needed we used to enter South Farm where the road crosses the south western part of the lake and then proceed into Clear Lake. I'm interested in returning to this area and was wondering if anybody has any information about the entry. I'm guessing entry is not permitted from this spot anymore. Does anybody know if there is a station to fill out an entry permit at the motor use entry? Thanks in advance.

I was there in March 2005 and walked out on the ice a mile or so. There were a couple of very small parking spots on the side of the road and I ran in to one other guy that was walking out as I was coming back. I think the dogsledding outfits use this area as a starting point.
