A group of four will be base camping on Little Sag in June If anyone has some advice/tips for Little Sag it would be appreciated.
Looking for a good campsite?
Is this a busy area?

1) Look for the USFS cabin, It's marked on the online maps. Failed to mark my map before and didn't find it.
2) The northern Shore is still recovering from the Cavity Lake Fire (I believe)
3) Some nice island sites near the northern shore were really nice.
4) Little Sag becomes very big when it is windy. I snapped an outfitter paddle in half battling the waves and almost dumped.
Only the northern Shore was affected 95% of little sag is good.
Had to battle some white caps.

The east portage in from Mora is one of the prettiest you'll see and the west end portage to Rattle has a neat little set of rapids. A nice daytrip would be up to Virgin through the burn.....enjoy the breeze and pick some Raspberries (might be ready in late June).

Before the fire, and blowdown, it was one of the most beautiful lakes in the BWCA. It was considered remote enough, that prior to the blow down, the area was considered for the reintroduction of the woodland caribou. The project was scrapped.
The fire as others have stated, covers only the northern shore of the lake. The campsites on the southern shore are pretty nice.

Site 812 It's on a long pennisula. The map is slightly decieving though, the site is not on the tip of the pennisula, it's just a bit farther down the shore. Maybe 50 yards or so.

Here's a few photos....

I didn't have much luck fishing the last time I was there but, with all the islands, it's an awesome lake for exploring. If you get a chance? Check out Elton lake just to the south. I thought it was a neat little lake.

I think we narrowed our end of June trip to enter at Round Lake and work through these lakes. How's the fishing? They look like lake trout lakes. Are there any especially good areas to try?
Any places for northerns, walleye, or smallies?
