The 8 to 80 BWCA trip report. Trip had 7 people including 8 year old Alex, 70 year old Sarita and 80 year old Helen plus Jenni, Jason, Sean and Sara--all in their 30's (or almost). A wonderful trip, putting in at Lizz Lake, traveling the first day to a great site on Vista lake which we used as a base for the next 5 days of fishing, day trips and swimming. Good weather, full moon, least mosquitos of all my trips (this was my 15 since 1985). We took in 4 canoes including a lightweight solo which initially seemed like a mistake as paddling in wind with the solo and one 8 year old bow paddler on the first day was tough. We had planned to camp on Horseshoe but all the sites were in use so we went on to Vista where we barely saw another canoe for 5 days. Weather was quite calm paddling out and by then the littlest paddler had learned to dig steady. Awesome trip with a great group of people. I haven't laughed so much in a long time. I stumbled and fell on the last leg of the last portage, saved by the soft daypack on my chest so I only had a spain and some bruises. Sprains heal, memories last.
I didn't know how to add a title to the report which would have been the 8 to 80 trip! On return, my grandson was asked if he'd go back and answered, "Someday I'll take MY kids there!" Anyone know good summer camps in the area for a kid who will be 9l next summer?
I wonder if you need to join the site to list a title. Just beware, you might not be able to stop visiting this site. :) Sounds like you would have plenty to contribute. Thanks for sharing.
