Took my yak into Alice from Kawishiwi Lake. Great trip over 4 days. One trip portaged and made it to Alice on day 1, (eight hour day). Walleye fishing was fantastic in Alice. In a two hour span caught a 24", 2 27" and a 28.5" plus a bunch of smaller fish, all CPR'd except for a few smaller fish. Used a yoke to transport yak this year and it was a much better way to go.

I've been thinking about making that same trip next year with my kayak. What yoke did you use for your kayak? Do you have model or picture?

September, 2012. Came and and back out through numbered chain, EP30. Lots to explore on and around Alice.

My friend and I base-camped on Malberg using kayaks. Didn't go into Alice, but we did go down the Kawishiwi River almost all the way to Alice.

For yokes, we use clamp-on yokes from Spring Creek: Spring Creek yokes

I used a yoke very similar to the spring creek version that I bought off EBay. Balance was an issue and marked the locations to clamp it down in black marker. It was very uncomfortable to portage if not well balanced and time consuming not not have the locations marked exactly.

Sorry no pics but I also use a paddle holder that is permanently mounted to the side of my yak to make one trip portaging easier. I slap paddle in holder, put on my pack, lift the yak with yoke on shoulders and carry fishing poles
