Great videos. I have never used a tent stove or hot tent, it's nice to see the little details and comments of how you get along with that experience.

Call me bad, but I really like the ipad mini for cutting the boredom. I have my whole library of reading on it, and it's backlit for reading at night. Downloaded maps, bird books, family pictures, etc. Plus, it'll play 8 hours of video on a charge - if I were on your trip, I would have downloaded the first episodes of "Klondike" from iTunes. But it doesn't suit everyones idea of getting away from it all.

Thanks for the videos Bill. Appreciate you sharing your trip with us.

What do you film with?

FYI: The sticks in the Quinzee are for telling you when to stop digging it out so you don't punch thru the roof or walls.

Thanks again.

Those electronics wouldn't last the 1st day due to the cold. I was able to do the videos with my Cannon Powershot S51S because I kept it around my neck and inside my shirt along with a bag of aa batteries the whole week.

Great story Bill. Looks like you solved the "almost died from pulling such a big load" like last year. Dog teams are amazing.

A couple of things of note.

I always have a "lonely" feeling the first day or two on any trip. But once I get adjusted to the change I do great.

Birch- for the most part, birch is a poor choice for firewood. The birch bark is so oil filled and water proof that it keeps moisture in the wood. You'll notice that a birch tree rots from the inside out. So unless it's a standing dead tree or a partially hanging dead branch, it's not likely going to burn very well, just too full of moisture. Of course, the birch bark burns great.

Loved the pancakes and bacon scene. Wish there was such a thing as smell-o-vision!!

Bill,

Nice video.....great story. Keep up the good fight my friend. It takes courage to admit your problems in such a public way and I commend you for having the courage to do so. I hope the good Lord continues to watch over you.

I use a general biodegradable soap, it sure made me feel way better!
Also I now believe that small tree I was talking about is actually a cedar tree.

Thanks for sharing your trip. Sighting the wolf pack is a privilege. Many folks who have been visiting the BWCA for years have never seen a wolf!

I also enjoyed your tent visitor!

It was awsome hot tenting with you in spirit. Thank you for posting all that you did. "It takes a great deal of courage to put yourself out there like that.
It would be fun to go with you on your next journey and see if two heads are better than one at snagging a fish or two...;-)
