Has anyone been to Slim Lake (entry point 6) this winter? North Arm road plowed?

How about ice depth on slim lake. How thick is the ice?

North Arm Road is always plowed. I don't the ice thickness, but I did ski across the south end of the lake.

Like egknuti said, the North Arm Road is always plowed. The short EP road to the parking lot for Slim is not, so you probably have to part on the North Arm Road given the heavy snowfall this winter. If you have not been to Slim in the winter, it's easy to miss where the EP is. It's across from the well-marked public access to the North Arm of Burntside.

In terms of ice thickness, what are you concerned about? It's definitely thick enough to hold you up. Are you fishing, skiing, both, other? There is a lot of slush on all the lakes, though generally the layer above the slush is now frozen and the snow is packed so you don't have to worry about it on skis in most places. But the slush is always lurking . . . (That's based on living very close to Slim and being on a lot of lakes in the area recently, but not on Slim.)

Thanks for the reports. I'm checking to see if I have enough ice auger length or if I should purchase an extension.

I have not made it to Slim Lake yet. I can't make it up there until the first week of March. At this time, I plan to park along North Arm road.

Keep in mind that the walleye/pike fishing season ends feb 27 i believe. No lakers in slim. Auger must be for water acquisition only? Unless there are perch/panfish in there.

TG, thank you for the reminder and that is what we are planning pan fish and snowshoeing. According to an old lake finder report from the DNR there is not a ton of pan fish in Slim lake. Has anyone had any luck on Slim?

i fished Slim in the spring about 7 years ago now, we caught one nice pike and a largemouth in the bay with the entry portage. Seemed like a lot of dead water though, very steep immediately from shore and very deep. 2 loons would circle the lake constantly searching for fish to eat and chased my lure every time I was casting from shore.
